[UPDATED] Vouched bbcode tags-[ vce], [ vpe] & now [ voe]

Postby M MD on Sun Jan 27, 2008 2:39 pm

Here is a quick primer on how the [ vce ] and [ vpe ] and the *new* [ voe ] bbcodes work and who will see what you post within these bbcodes if you use them.

The bbcodes work by determining if you are a guest or registered user and then, if you are a registered member, if you are double vouched or not. These bbcodes allow you to then share and communicate information specifically to all double vouched members (voe) or just to Vouched Clients only (vce) or Vouched Providers only (vpe). Here is how they work:

[ vce ]
If you use the VCE codes (Vouched Client Eyes only), here is what the following user registration status / group members will see:
  • Guest\Anonymous (male or female) - Nothing
  • A Registered User who is in no groups (male or female) - Nothing
  • Users in the "Administrator, Moderator, and Vouched Client" groups - The text will show
  • Users in the "Agency, Provider, Vouched Provider, Vouched Agency, Vouched Access, and One Vouch" groups - Nothing
[ vpe ]
If you use the VPE codes (Vouched Provider Eyes only), here is what the following user registration status / group members will see:
  • Guest\Anonymous (male or female) - Nothing
  • A Registered User who is in no groups (male or female) - Nothing
  • Users in the "Administrator, Moderator, and Vouched Providers" groups - The text will show
  • Users in the "Agency, Provider, Vouched Client, Vouched Agency, Vouched Access, and One Vouch" groups - Nothing
[ voe ]
If you use the *new* VOE codes (Vouched Only Eyes), here is what the following user registration status / group members will see:
  • Guest\Anonymous (male or female) - Nothing
  • A Registered User who is in no groups (male or female) - Nothing
  • Users in the "Administrator, Moderator, and Vouched Providers, Vouched Client, Vouched Agency, and Vouched Access" groups - The text will show
  • Users in the "Agency, Provider and One Vouch" groups - Nothing

TEST FOR YOU
Below are three blocks of text where I have used the bbcode tags - one is enclosed by the VCE bbcodes, one by by VPE bbcodes, and one with VOE bbcodes. You're access as described above will dictate how many of them you can see.

Here's what's cool about this - any member can use the bbcodes - but, if you are not twice vouched (minimum, and you're not an admin/mod), you won't even see the text that you typed in after you've posted the thread (hey - becoming vouched has it's privileges)!

A couple of cool examples of how you could use the new bbcodes to your benefit:
  • Any provider can hide a comment for gentlemen in the Vouched Clients group by enclosing it in the VCE bbcode tags.
  • A gentleman can make a comment only to any of the ladies in the Vouched Providers group by enclosing it in the VPE bbcode tags.
  • And of course, the best example is that you no longer need to repeat comments - if you want to say something to all double vouched members, enclose your text in the VOE bbcode tags.

Very cool!

Should there be some kind of visual marker for voe like there is for vce and vpe that helps you know the access level while reading? Maybe something like.

----For Vouched Eyes Only----
Example voe comment
-----------------------------------

Or maybe displayed in a box like a quote is, so it could appear like.

If you're done with this, nevermind.

Great new feature!

My bad - I had a little too much security going on the new VOE tag. OTW & Journeyman ... you may see something a little different now.

Just a note to MMD for a cosmetic fix.

One the full edit form if one hovers over the VCE button it says: vouched client eyes only text.

But if one hovers over the VPE button it too says: vouched client eyes only text.

Examples are attached below. I hope this is helpful.

What browser are you using? It works in IE7 and Firefox2. can it be a script setting in their bowser that needs a premission?

LOL I'll bet that was in normal typing mode and not in any code:)

But I'm sure I did it right....I clicked the VOE thing twice and typed my sentence in between them. Well, I guess that's obvious come to think about it since you say that you can see it correctly lol.

It must just be me that has these difficulties lol.

Here's what a section of MMD's initial post in this thread looks like to me.

I really don't think it's a browser issue because this is what the html for that section looks like:
Indys.com wrote:<br />

Nope. MMD fixed that one ages ago. Oh...never mind...I see which message you meant now. The only way I can tell that something is in [voe] right now is if I quote the person's message. It looks like it was typed in the open to me. So I apologize in advance if I respond in the open to any [voe] comment.
