2 more years on his contract. Probably cheaper to keep him than buy him out. Besides whoever you get its still going to take some time. The funny part is, with some team discipline, they have the talent to play.

Just seems like Cincinnati has two of the worst coaches in the game. Marvin Lewis and Brian Price both suck. You Pittsburgh fellows are lucky to have good coaches for your teams.

We thank you for that, but its not luck. Its a sane ownership that has established a tradition of due diligence and patience and belief in the plan. They are also smart enough to let and support the people they hire actually do the jobs that they are being highly paid for. Its not rocket science.

Because he coaches a team that has missed passes, blocks, holes etc. He runs a team where idiots on his defense cost him playoff games. No control.

Because Mike Brown doesn’t want anyone in his organization smarter than him, he’s a football genius.

125 wins, 112 losses. and 3 ties. 7 playoff appearances, 7 losses in 15 years.

What more could you ask for?

Paul Brown, the founder of the bengals, was truly a football genius in his day. He coached Ohio State to a national championship, went on to coach the browns, then founded the bengals.

At times, very few times, it seems as his son has had a vision and wanted to win, and pay the price for winning. But overall thier ownership has been pretty damn bad. It is a shame for faithful bengal fans, which I am not. But I know a lot of them, and he could fill that stadium three times over if he demanded a great product and provided the leadership required.

... Surely dont wanna piss in the stew here,
but seem to me that the Bengals of the
last few years are as 'bout as good
as anybody else. They dont win once
they reach the play-offs, but they
generally field a competitive team.

.. I keep hearin' about how the
Cowboys are "America's team"
- what have THEY done lately??

And "past glorys" of the Dolphins
and Raiders and Bears. :(

... just sayin'

Word is out the Jon Gruden has hired the Bengals defensive coordinator for his Raiders staff. That won't help Lewis and the Bengals succeed in the near term.

I like Chucky but I am not so sure he is going to be the savior the Raidaz think he's going to be. It kind of reminds me when Joe Gibbs came back to coaching. That was a disaster.

... But me point IS valid there, Butch.

... WHY would Gruden want to get back into
the grind of coaching and managing football?
Didn't he retire from coaching years ago
after winning a Super Bowl final?

... It's the allure of being the first coach
of the soon-to-be "Vegas Raiders"...

... A simple money-grab. $$$

Even-if his team is not successful,
Gruden walks away surely grinnin'
like a shithouse rat and sayin'
"Piss off! I WON a Super Bowl already!
I just made a few more millions."

... Crikey! ... He might even get invited
to the Whit "you know where"... :)

Oh I don't blame Chucky for takin the job. Especially if the money is large. All I'm saying is, he hasn't coached in a long time and there is no guarantee he will find his magic. Remember is last few years coaching weren't that great. Its a tough gig. But hey if they're willing to throw money at you, then do it. He can always go back to broadcasting.
